EXPLORING SHUTTER SPEED
STOP ACTION
For this assignment Sarah was to set different shutter speeds to get different effects on action shots. By setting a fast shutter speed, Sarah was able to get clear shots of an object moving. However, by setting a slow shutter speed, the object in motion will be blurred. When an object in motion is clear, the technique is called stop action. below are a few of Sarah's favorite stop action shots.
BLUR ACTION
Sarah's next challenge was to shoot something or someone in motion using a slow shutter speed. using a slow shutter speed, makes the cameras lens stay open longer, resulting in a blurred picture if the object is in motion. This technique is called blurred action. Below are a few of Sarah's favorite blurred action shots.
PANNING SHOT
In order to create a panning photograph, Sarah followed a moving object, at slow shutter speed to create a clear focus with a surrounding blur. Sarah found this photography technique to be the most difficult of them all. She felt that it was a challenge to keep the moving object in focus while getting a surrounding blur.
EXPERIMENTAL
For the next part of the project, Sarah was to take an experimental image. To do this she played with the ISO, shutter speed, aperture levels. For the photo below, Sarah had her mom drive her around at night so she could get action shots of cars going by. To do this Sarah used a slow shutter speed allowing movement during an extended period of time.
